Hyderabad Congress Reviews Electoral Roll Revision Process at Gandhi Bhavan

Hyderabad: The District Congress Committee convened a meeting on Tuesday at Gandhi Bhavan to evaluate readiness for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and corresponding training of Booth Level Agents.

Mallu Ravi, serving as in-charge of the district, oversaw the gathering. According to Hyderabad DCC President Syed Khalid Saifullah, the session brought together district-level officials and divisional representatives. In total, 101 district body members and 44 division presidents participated in the proceedings.

The agenda centred on Booth Level Agent training and coordination mechanisms at both booth and division levels. Divisional leadership received instructions to maintain close coordination with Booth Level Agents throughout the SIR process. Participants emphasised the critical importance of ensuring that eligible voters remain on the electoral rolls.

The Election Commission initiated the SIR exercise to develop an accurate voter database by incorporating eligible voters while eliminating duplicate and ineligible entries. The schedule for Hyderabad district calls for a door-to-door survey spanning June 25 through July 24. During this period, Booth Level Officers will distribute special enumeration forms, collect completed submissions, and provide receipts to residents.

The draft electoral rolls are scheduled for publication on July 31. The period from July 31 to August 30 will allow citizens to file claims and objections. Verification and hearings will proceed until September 28, with final electoral rolls released on October 1.

Voters have multiple avenues to participate. They can submit enumeration forms online through the Election Commission's portal using their mobile number or EPIC number, or seek support from Booth Level Officers or the toll-free helpline 1950.

The Congress party had previously raised concerns through state-level leadership. TPCC President B. Mahesh Kumar Goud had urged the Chief Electoral Officer to execute the revision methodically and incrementally to prevent erroneous removal of voters. The party also demanded adequate time for filing objections, written notification prior to name deletion, and thorough verification by Booth Level Officers.

Khalid Saifullah stated that the Hyderabad DCC would maintain vigilant oversight of the SIR exercise through its division presidents and Booth Level Agents to safeguard the electoral rights of eligible citizens.
