Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Posts 17% Growth in Q1FY27, Crosses 16 Lakh Unit Sales
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) has demonstrated robust performance during the first quarter of FY2027 (April-June 2026), delivering 16.11 lakh units to the market. This represents a significant jump from the 13.75 lakh units sold in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year, translating to a year-on-year expansion of 17%.
The company's domestic operations proved particularly resilient, with 14.13 lakh units dispatched during Q1FY27 compared to 12.28 lakh units in Q1FY26, reflecting a 15% year-on-year surge. Meanwhile, the international business showed even more impressive momentum, with exports climbing to 1.98 lakh units from 1.46 lakh units, marking a substantial 36% growth over the same period last year.
Tsutsumu Otani, President and Chief Executive Officer of HMSI, attributed the encouraging results to favourable market dynamics. "We have witnessed positive growth momentum in the opening quarter of FY2027 relative to the previous year, driven by consistent underlying consumer demand," Otani stated. "This accomplishment underscores our unwavering commitment to disciplined operational execution and our dedication to staying responsive to shifting consumer preferences and market requirements."
He added that the company remains cognisant of the evolving competitive landscape but remains committed to executing its strategic agenda. "Our robust range of vehicles and extensive network of dealerships position us well to pursue sustainable expansion in the quarters ahead," he noted.
The momentum continued into June 2026, when HMSI recorded total sales of 5.28 lakh units, up 23% from the 4.29 lakh units sold in June 2025. Domestic sales for the month reached 4.68 lakh units, representing a 21% increase year-over-year. The export segment delivered 0.59 lakh units, demonstrating impressive 47% growth compared to June 2025.
