HMDA Collects Rs 261 Crore in LRS Fees as Government Accelerates Application Processing

Hyderabad's Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has accumulated Rs 261 crore in revenue through LRS (Layout Regularisation Scheme) fee collections, as the state government moved to expedite the processing of thousands of pending applications.
The Telangana government launched a comprehensive drive to clear the backlog, which included offering a 25 percent discount on fees for applicants who made payments during the month of July. According to officials, the initiative concentrated its efforts on applications filed within the jurisdictions of HMDA, GHMC, CMC, and MMC.
To facilitate faster processing, authorities established dedicated assistance counters at the three municipal corporations. Additionally, the government implemented special arrangements within HMDA limits to ensure quicker turnaround on application approvals.
Data released by officials indicates that 85,954 applicants in HMDA limits have paid their fees, resulting in the Rs 261.72 crore revenue figure.
The HMDA received 2,90,369 LRS applications in total. Fee notices were issued for 2,01,453 of these applications. Another 54,021 applications did not receive fee notices due to various procedural reasons.
Among those who received fee notices, 85,954 applicants have completed their payments. However, approximately 1.50 lakh applicants remain outstanding on their fee obligations.
The authority has granted approval to 33,096 applications following successful fee payment. In contrast, 1,850 applications have been rejected. A further 34,183 applications are awaiting action from applicants, while 30,656 applications are currently under review by officials.
State authorities have instructed urban development bodies to accelerate the disposal of pending cases and strengthen oversight mechanisms to prevent further delays.
