Hyderabad: State weather authorities have sounded a red alert across numerous districts in Telangana as the region braces for a severe heatwave accompanied by unpredictable weather patterns over the coming weeks.

The meteorological department has flagged an intensification of temperatures from April 27 through April 30. Northern and central portions of the state face particularly severe conditions, with peak temperatures anticipated to reach 44°C to 46°C. The extreme heat has prompted officials to classify these zones under red alert status.

In contrast, southern and eastern Telangana may witness thunderstorm activity during this period. Hyderabad itself could see rainfall on April 28 and 29, according to weather forecasts. Despite these isolated wet spells, meteorologists caution that overall atmospheric conditions will remain volatile throughout the next ten days.

The temperature swings pose distinct challenges for residents. While scorching heat dominates much of the state, isolated thunderstorms may strike suddenly with heavy downpours and strong gusts. This erratic pattern, authorities note, will create difficult conditions for the population.

From May 1 to May 3, heatwave conditions are projected to reassert themselves across southern and eastern districts, with temperatures hovering between 44°C and 45°C. The remainder of the state will continue experiencing parched conditions with minimal moisture.

Between May 4 and May 8, another shift appears likely. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds may affect several regions, including the capital city. While heat intensity may moderate somewhat, temperatures are still expected to remain in the 41°C to 43°C range.

State officials have advised the public to take precautions in response to the fluctuating weather. Residents are urged to limit time spent outdoors during peak heat hours and to seek shelter when sudden storms and strong winds develop.
