Telangana Health Minister Lauds Medical Professionals on National Doctors' Day

Hyderabad: On National Doctors' Day, Telangana's Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha paid tribute to the medical profession, acknowledging the critical role physicians play in safeguarding community wellbeing. He underscored how doctors daily employ their knowledge and commitment to preserve countless lives across the state.

According to the Minister, government-employed doctors form the backbone of Telangana's public health framework. He emphasized that the administration is working to bolster healthcare delivery through enhanced physical infrastructure, cutting-edge equipment, and sufficient staffing levels.

Over the past two-and-a-half years, the state has undertaken substantial recruitment across the medical sector. The Health Department appointed 440 Civil Assistant Surgeons, 1,616 Specialist Doctors, and approximately 800 Assistant Professors to strengthen the healthcare workforce. In addition, 48 Dental Surgeons were recruited, addressing a longstanding gap in dental services. The department's overall personnel recruitment across all divisions reached nearly 15,000 individuals during this period.

Career advancement has also been prioritized, with around 1,300 doctors receiving promotions in the same timeframe.

The government has initiated construction of a new Osmania Hospital while completing new residential facilities at Gandhi Medical College and Osmania Medical College. A newly established Directorate of Secondary Health Care is now operational. The administration is simultaneously developing modern facilities to replace outdated or rented spaces currently housing medical institutions.

Compensation improvements have been implemented for junior medical staff, with junior doctors' stipends and senior residents' honorariums increased by 15 percent.

Damodar Raja Narasimha reaffirmed the government's commitment to advancing doctors' professional development and welfare. He appealed to medical professionals to maintain their dedication to delivering excellent healthcare, and conveyed his warm wishes on the occasion.
