HDFC Multi-Asset Active FOF Marks Five Years of Strong Performance Amid Market Volatility

May 26, 2026

HDFC Asset Management Company Limited, a major player in India's mutual fund industry and investment manager for HDFC Mutual Fund, observed the fifth anniversary of its Multi-Asset Active FOF on May 5, 2026. The fund has consistently beaten its benchmark across various time periods while adapting to shifting market dynamics.

Introduced in May 2021, the scheme employs a balanced multi-asset strategy that allocates capital across equity-focused schemes, debt-focused schemes, and Gold ETFs. The fund is designed to enable investors to build wealth over extended periods through careful asset distribution while responding to evolving market conditions.

As of April 30, 2026, the scheme's Regular Growth Option had outpaced its benchmark by 2.75 percentage points since launch. Notably, the Multi-Asset Allocation FOF experienced significantly smaller losses compared to the NIFTY 50 TRI during the period between the market peak on September 26, 2024 and April 30, 2026, posting a gain of 5.3% against a decline of 4.5%.

The fund's performance reflects a broader trend among investors gravitating toward diversified strategies to manage market fluctuations and construct resilient investment portfolios. Asset allocation has become increasingly important as investors seek exposure across multiple asset classes rather than concentrating in a single segment.

Navneet Munot, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HDFC Asset Management Company Limited, emphasized the fund's role in wealth creation: "Our objective at HDFC Mutual Fund is to deliver investment solutions that enable broad diversification and support long-term wealth accumulation. The Multi-Asset Active FOF represents our commitment to providing investors with a comprehensive diversified investment platform combined with disciplined asset allocation, enabling them to navigate different economic cycles effectively."

Srinivasan Ramamurthy, Senior Fund Manager for Equities at HDFC Asset Management Company Limited, elaborated on the investment methodology: "The Multi-Asset Active FOF provides investors with an adaptive and comprehensive asset allocation strategy. The approach encompasses breadth across asset classes alongside depth within each category—spanning market capitalizations and sectors within equity schemes, and encompassing durations, sectors, and thematic areas within debt schemes. By combining assets with negative or minimal correlation, the strategy addresses diversification requirements while reducing portfolio risk. As market conditions shift, the fund combines structured asset allocation with active management to deliver returns adjusted for risk levels."
