BRS Leader Harish Rao Accuses Telangana Government of Illegal Surveillance

Hyderabad: T. Harish Rao, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi and former minister, has levelled accusations of unlawful surveillance against the Telangana administration, targeting opposition figures.
During a media interaction on Wednesday, Rao asserted that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had sanctioned the wiretapping operations. Additionally, he contended that unidentified individuals had compromised the security systems monitoring the homes of political leaders, gaining unauthorised access to CCTV footage.
Rao indicated that his party would pursue stringent measures against those responsible for the alleged misconduct. "Once we return to government, not a single IPS officer complicit in this will go unpunished," he stated.
The opposition figure emphasised that any legitimate surveillance activities ought to operate within constitutional and legal parameters. He maintained, however, that the current government had transgressed these boundaries in its conduct.
Rao characterised the surveillance allegations as indicative of governmental overreach and demanded that officials be held responsible. He called on the state authorities to implement greater openness regarding surveillance protocols and to strictly adhere to the legal framework governing such activities.
In separate remarks, Rao appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allocate significant national projects to Telangana for its advancement. He suggested that the Prime Minister should channel focus toward development schemes rather than organising public events. He underscored that the grievances raised by the opposition merited serious consideration.
