BRS Leader Harish Rao Criticizes Congress Government Over Unfulfilled Agricultural Commitments in Telangana

Hyderabad: At a BRS workers' gathering in Karimnagar on Wednesday, party leader and former minister Harish Rao launched a scathing critique of the Congress administration's handling of farmer welfare initiatives, contending that the government has systematically broken its electoral commitments to rural communities and other constituencies.

The event drew participation from Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar, former minister Koppula Eshwar, former MLAs Rasamayi Balakishan and Sunke Ravishankar, former Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma, alongside senior party functionaries and workers.

Challenges to Agricultural Support Systems

Harish Rao pointed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's recent statement that "power is not permanent" as evidence of the government's anxiety over eroding public confidence. The BRS leader questioned the rationale for farmers to extend support to an administration that has, in his assessment, betrayed its rural commitments.

He enumerated several grievances, including the alleged withholding of approximately ₹30,000 crore designated for the Rythu Bharosa scheme, the non-disbursement of crop bonuses, and the imposition of power supply restrictions on agricultural consumers.

Additionally, Harish Rao asserted that insurance payouts under the Rythu Bima scheme remain unpaid to the beneficiary families of nearly 7,600 deceased farmers.

Fertiliser Access and Loan Waiver Issues

The opposition figure also took issue with the government's management of fertiliser distribution channels. He noted that farmers who previously obtained fertilisers with relative ease now find themselves standing in extended queues to procure urea supplies.

In another significant criticism, Harish Rao highlighted the Congress government's failure to honour its public pledge regarding a comprehensive farm loan waiver scheme, despite the Chief Minister's explicit assurances on the matter.
