Hyderabad witnessed a significant humanitarian initiative on Sunday as Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla opened a comprehensive limb fitment programme at the Exhibition Grounds. The event, coordinated by Narayan Seva Sansthan, distributed 815 modular artificial limbs and callipers among 745 differently-abled individuals, with some recipients obtaining multiple prosthetics tailored to their specific needs.

The programme drew support from international partners, namely Make a Change Foundation based in the UK and Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Willesden. The organisers had conducted preliminary screening that attracted registrations from over 1,000 individuals, eventually selecting 745 for the assistance programme.

Speaking at the event, the Governor emphasised the programme's significance as a demonstration of collective compassion and service. He spent time engaging with the beneficiaries and participated in a parade held at the venue to encourage the participants.

Many recipients experienced profound transformation during the camp. For numerous beneficiaries, the newly fitted prosthetics enabled them to walk independently for the first time in years. Several participants accomplished everyday tasks—such as kicking a football or holding a glass of water—that had remained beyond their reach since acquiring their disabilities.

T. G. Bharat, who attended the event, described the initiative as transformative and highlighted its role in enabling differently-abled individuals to participate fully in society. He indicated plans to replicate such a programme within his own constituency.

Devendra Choubisa, trustee and director of Narayan Seva Sansthan, noted that the organisation deployed advanced modular prosthetics incorporating German technology. He underscored that beneficiaries received comprehensive training in the use and upkeep of their prosthetics to maximise long-term outcomes.

The event commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting ceremony and included recognition of donors and supporters. Boggur Dayanand attended and commended the initiative's impact.

Narayan Seva Sansthan, established in 1985 by Kailash Manav, has delivered free artificial limbs to approximately 39,000 individuals nationwide. The organisation has also furnished medical support to more than 4.5 lakh people across India.
