Governor Urges Educators to Guide Students Like Young Plants Finding Their Roots

Hyderabad — A call to shape the nation's future through careful mentorship of its youth came from Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Wednesday, as he addressed attendees at a free notebook distribution programme organised by Bharat Sevashram Sangh at the Lok Bhavan Community Hall.

Drawing a parallel between childhood development and plant growth, Shukla emphasized that just as saplings require consistent nourishment and protection to mature into sturdy trees, students need encouragement and guidance to reach their full potential. He stressed that when young learners receive quality education, discipline, and strong moral grounding, they are equipped to achieve remarkable accomplishments and become assets to their families, communities, and the country.

The Governor underscored the critical role of creating spaces where children can thrive. According to him, educational institutions must combine academic rigour with ethical instruction to cultivate responsible, forward-thinking citizens. Shukla also flagged concerns about threats to youth development, urging teachers and parents alike to shield students from substance abuse and the potentially harmful consequences of unchecked social media engagement.

Speaking about the significance of the venue, Shukla characterized Lok Bhavan Government School as a beacon of equitable education. He noted that the institution exemplifies the government's commitment to ensuring that children from disadvantaged backgrounds have genuine access to quality schooling.

Recognising the work of Bharat Sevashram Sangh, the Governor commended the organisation's multifaceted contributions spanning education, health services, and relief operations during crises. He remarked that the group's foundational commitment to human welfare continues to catalyse meaningful community development.

In his remarks, Shukla highlighted Telangana's growing aspirations in both education and athletics. He pointed to schemes such as Young India Integrated Residential Schools as examples of how the state is working to democratise opportunity for students from varied socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

The Governor's visit to the area began with a tree-planting ceremony at the Lok Bhavan Government High School campus. He subsequently spent time with young children at a local anganwadi centre before participating in the notebook distribution activity.
