Authorities in Hyderabad have arrested a man with a history of criminal offences in connection with an illegal betting operation. K. Kailash Singh was taken into custody on April 30 following a foot patrol conducted by Goshamahal Police in the Dhoolpet area.

Officers spotted Singh near his establishment in Jummerath Bazar and noted suspicious behaviour. When the police team approached, he reportedly attempted to evade them. Upon questioning at the scene, Singh allegedly confessed to orchestrating illegal wagering activities via WhatsApp.

According to investigators, Singh's modus operandi involved collecting bets from participants and transmitting them to associates through digital messaging platforms. The police have identified four additional individuals connected to the scheme—Arjun, Kaleram, Manoj and Lakhan—who currently remain at large.

During the operation, law enforcement seized currency, betting slips, and a mobile device believed to have been used in coordinating the illegal activities. The seizure was documented through an official panchanama procedure.

The case has been registered as Crime No. 153/2026 under Section 9 of the Telangana State Gaming Act and Section 112 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Singh's arrest marks another instance in his pattern of involvement with similar criminal activities, police noted. Investigations are ongoing to locate the remaining suspects involved in the betting network.
