Hyderabad: A coordinated enforcement action by Gopalapuram police has resulted in the confiscation of 17 kilograms of ganja and the arrest of two suspects in Secunderabad. The operation, conducted at a lodge on June 14 based on credible intelligence, also led to the seizure of two mobile phones suspected of being used for coordinating the illegal activity. Authorities have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with investigations continuing.

The operation commenced after officers received reliable information around 3 p.m. on June 14 regarding the presence of contraband at the location. Acting on this lead, police coordinated with the Clues Team and independent witnesses to execute the search. During the raid, officers detained the suspects and searched their belongings, uncovering 13 packets containing a combined 17 kilograms of ganja.

During interrogation, the arrested individuals disclosed that they were transporting the substance for monetary benefit. According to police statements, the contraband was intended to be moved from Sambalpur in Odisha to Pune in Maharashtra, with Hyderabad serving as a transit point. The investigation has uncovered evidence suggesting the involvement of additional operatives in the smuggling network.

Authorities have identified a suspected supplier connected to the operation who is currently at large. The seizure has prompted investigators to broaden their inquiry and identify other individuals involved in the trafficking ring. Two mobile phones recovered during the raid are being examined by officials as part of the ongoing investigation to trace communication patterns and identify additional suspects.

Senior police officials oversaw the operation, which was executed by specialized enforcement teams. Authorities have indicated that efforts remain active to locate and apprehend other persons connected to the case. The confiscation underscores the police department's continued focus on combating drug trafficking activities across the city.
