Hyderabad: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla underscored how Goa and Sikkim exemplify India's multifaceted cultural heritage and play a vital role in shaping the nation's identity during Statehood Day commemorations at Lok Bhavan on Saturday.

The event drew members from both state communities based in Telangana. The Governor attended alongside his wife, Janaki Shukla.

In his address, Shukla highlighted how the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' initiative functions as a unifying force, fostering deeper connections and cooperation across India's diverse states.

Goa stands renowned globally for its distinctive traditions and picturesque natural environment, the Governor noted. Sikkim, he added, is celebrated for its spiritual ethos, tranquility and breathtaking topography.

Together, both territories embody the depth of India's cultural wealth and elevate the nation's collective sense of achievement, Shukla remarked.

The Governor extended warm wishes to citizens hailing from these two states who make Telangana their home. He also called upon people to uphold and advance principles of national cohesion, constitutional values and communal well-being.

Greetings from the respective Governors of Goa and Sikkim were projected on display screens throughout the programme, engaging the assembled crowd.

The celebration featured traditional performances that captivated attendees and formed a central element of the day's proceedings.

Special Chief Secretary to the Governor M. Dana Kishore, Joint Secretary Shashikiran Achari and additional officials participated in the occasion.
