Hyderabad authorities have apprehended a GHMC junior assistant in connection with alleged bribery linked to building permission approvals. The Anti-Corruption Bureau caught the official red-handed while receiving illicit funds near Yousufguda.

The accused, identified as Smt. B. Srilatha, held the position of junior assistant in the Revenue and Tax division at the Deputy Commissioner's office serving Borabanda Circle-37 under Khairatabad Zone. According to ACB officials, she had sought ₹5 lakh from a citizen to facilitate the house construction permission process, though she ultimately accepted ₹1 lakh as a partial payment.

The officer's responsibilities encompassed overseeing the entire authorization workflow, beginning from the Mee Seva application submission stage through to the final approval phase. The ACB's CR-1 team conducted a sting operation near Ratnadeep at Yousufguda Checkpost, where the money exchange took place. Officers recovered the cash during the operation and subsequently placed the accused in custody pending judicial proceedings.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has appealed to the public to report instances of graft through its toll-free helpline 1064. Citizens may also lodge complaints via WhatsApp, Facebook, or the official Telangana ACB website. The bureau has assured that the identities of those filing reports will remain protected.
