Hyderabad Gathers 4 Metric Tons of Electronic Waste in GHMC Drive

Hyderabad's civic administration has successfully concluded a major e-waste collection initiative that gathered 4 metric tons of discarded electronic equipment from across the city. Operating under the PP-PP Program, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) coordinated the campaign across multiple administrative circles.
The drive sought to encourage environmentally responsible handling of obsolete electronics and foster public understanding of sustainable waste management. Among the participating zones, Charminar Circle emerged as the top contributor to the collection effort.
Participation in the campaign proved robust, with residents, community welfare groups, educational establishments, and volunteer organizations actively engaging in the initiative. The strong turnout demonstrated growing consciousness within the public about the significance of disposing electronic devices safely and appropriately.
Officials emphasized that proper handling of e-waste plays a crucial role in mitigating environmental degradation and safeguarding community health. The scientific recycling and disposal of such materials helps prevent hazardous substances from contaminating soil and water resources.
The GHMC acknowledged the role played by citizens and partner organizations whose involvement made the campaign effective across the metropolitan area. Municipal authorities underscored their dedication to environmental stewardship and resource management initiatives throughout Hyderabad.
Looking ahead, the civic body intends to organize comparable collection and awareness campaigns in different neighborhoods across the city. Officials called upon residents to maintain their commitment to participating in forthcoming e-waste drives and to embrace environmentally conscious disposal methods in their daily practices.
