GHMC Commissioner Honours Shrama Shakti Award Recipients

Hyderabad's civic administration recognised two labour leaders for their dedication to worker welfare on Monday, as GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan presented ceremonial honours to Shrama Shakti awardees AVS Gandhi and K. Shiva Kumar at the municipal headquarters.

The awards, conferred by G. Vivek Venkatswamy, Telangana's Minister for Labour, Employment and Mines, acknowledged the recipients' sustained commitment to advancing labour welfare and serving the public interest. The event drew participation from municipal officials and representatives of workers' unions.

Adil Shariff, Working President of the Municipal Sahakar Mazdoor Union (MSMU), an INTUC affiliate, used the occasion to underscore the union's pivotal work in advocating for GHMC staff. He characterised the recognition as a significant achievement for the organisation, noting that it reflected the state government's appreciation for leaders engaged in protecting worker rights and interests.

Both awardees credited Adil Shariff for nominating them for the honour, viewing it as validation of their efforts in the labour movement. They pledged to channel this recognition into renewed commitment toward employee welfare initiatives.

The ceremony highlighted the municipal administration's broader commitment to acknowledging the contributions of labour advocates within Hyderabad's civic services framework.
