Telangana Pushes German Employment Pathway for Youth Through Enhanced Training Initiative

Hyderabad: The state government is intensifying efforts to open employment avenues in Germany for Telangana's youth through a comprehensive skills and language development programme.
Labour, Employment and Mines Minister G Vivek Venkatswamy has directed the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM) to prioritise German language proficiency and vocational training as key pillars of the initiative. Speaking at a board meeting on Monday, he highlighted that successful placements would serve as a catalyst for encouraging more young people to pursue international employment opportunities.
The minister emphasised the critical importance of German language skills, noting that proficiency in the language remains fundamental to accessing job prospects in Germany. He instructed officials to immediately recruit qualified language instructors and implement a "training the trainers" model to build institutional capacity.
Vivek Venkatswamy underscored that Germany presents substantial opportunities for both skilled workers and educated youth from the state. He urged TOMCOM to strengthen its placement facilitation mechanisms and expand outreach efforts to maximise participation.
Recognising the diverse nature of overseas employment, the minister stressed that youth must receive adequate cultural orientation before moving abroad, acknowledging that each country maintains distinct cultural practices. He asked officials to develop target-driven proposals that combine training and recruitment activities.
The government has also tasked TOMCOM with gathering regular feedback from workers currently employed overseas and submitting periodic reports to refine operational systems. This data-driven approach aims to continuously improve placement outcomes and worker support mechanisms.
The minister called for enhanced operational efficiency and elevated working standards across TOMCOM's functions. He expressed the government's aspiration for Telangana to establish itself as a model for other states in managing overseas employment initiatives.
Officials briefed the minister on ongoing efforts to place semi-skilled workers in Gulf Cooperation Council countries, with discussions focused on scaling these successes.
The meeting was attended by D Harichandana, Pamela Sethupathi, Nirmala Kanthi Wesley, E Gangadhar, and representatives from TOMCOM and the labour department.
