Adani Unveils Vande Bharatam Initiative to Nurture Innovators Across India's Regions

Ahmedabad — On his 64th birthday, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, unveiled Vande Bharatam, a sweeping national programme intended to scout and nurture innovators, entrepreneurs and problem-solvers throughout India.

The initiative will span across all 36 States and Union Territories, encompassing more than 800 districts and operating in multiple Indian languages. The programme welcomes participants from any age group or background, aiming to elevate promising concepts and entrepreneurial talent from regions outside India's established startup centres to the national stage.

India currently stands among the world's most robust startup ecosystems. However, a striking concentration persists: over 80 per cent of startup founders hail from merely five cities, creating significant barriers for aspiring innovators in other parts of the country to gain recognition, guidance and professional connections.

Vande Bharatam is structured to bridge this gap. The initiative will cast its net across urban hubs, tier-two cities, smaller towns and rural areas, searching for individuals whose ideas, innovations or ventures can generate meaningful economic or social transformation.

As India pursues the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, broadening entrepreneurial participation and fostering innovation will prove essential for sustained economic development, employment generation and tackling regional challenges.

The programme welcomes applications from anyone possessing an idea, innovation, solution or entrepreneurial vision, regardless of age, current occupation, educational credentials or the maturity stage of their concept. Applicants may submit anything from an early-stage idea to a prototype, fledgling enterprise or established business. Formal startup registration is not mandatory.

Opportunities span diverse sectors — technology, manufacturing, environmental sustainability, agriculture, heritage crafts and community-driven initiatives. Special encouragement will be extended to women entrepreneurs, tribal business builders, innovators from rural settings, entrepreneurs with disabilities and community-focused problem-solvers tackling localised issues.

Submissions will pass through a rigorous assessment framework evaluating innovation quality, entrepreneurial capability, potential for impact and capacity to scale. Details regarding evaluation standards, panel members and selection procedures will emerge subsequently.

Following evaluations at state and regional levels, 75 finalists will receive invitations to Ahmedabad for a comprehensive engagement programme encompassing mentoring, industry networking sessions and connections with venture capitalists and corporate executives. This cohort will showcase diverse representation across geographies, industries and demographic communities.

Speaking at the launch, Adani reflected on his own trajectory: "When I started, I had nothing. Everything I possess today and all my accomplishments stem from the blessings of this land. Our country has no dearth of capable individuals, yet opportunities have not penetrated every region uniformly.

We have established one of the world's most expansive startup ecosystems, yet the majority of founders still concentrate in a few metropolitan areas. Vande Bharatam represents our commitment to identify the innovators, solution-creators and business builders whose contributions merit recognition, backing and broader exposure. We encourage every Indian with entrepreneurial courage and the drive to create meaningful change to join this movement."

Successful finalists will obtain access to experienced mentors, financial backers, corporate leaders, business incubation resources and strategic alliances capable of converting concepts into viable enterprises. The programme will distribute monetary awards and sector-specific honours, with specifics to follow.

The main event, timed around Independence Day, will serve as the gateway to an enduring engagement mechanism linking participants with guides, funders, industry figures and peer innovators.
