Hyderabad: A significant youth and sports programme operating under the "Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika" campaign wrapped up with a closing event at Gachibowli Stadium on Saturday, bringing together young people, scholars, competitive athletes and families from throughout Telangana.

The ceremony was presided over by Telangana Sports Authority Chairman Shivasena Reddy, joined by Dr. A. Sonibala Devi, who serves as Managing Director of the Sports Authority and Commissioner of Youth Services.

In his remarks, Shivasena Reddy outlined how the initiative was designed to unearth sporting potential within the state's youth population and furnish them with institutional backing, motivation and avenues for advancement. He characterised Telangana as a region brimming with athletic capability and emphasised the administration's dedication to fostering talented individuals across all districts.

The Telangana youth sports festival formed a cornerstone of the broader 99-day "Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika" programme spearheaded by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Shivasena Reddy noted. He commended the efforts of officials, sports bodies and local administrations in executing the week-long undertaking.

Employment and Recognition Highlight Closing Ceremony

The closing event featured the presentation of appointment letters to individuals selected during recent recruitment drives held in Hyderabad and across district towns. Those who triumphed in competitions during the Sports Day celebrations on May 21 received medals and awards.

Recognition certificates went to participants who demonstrated excellence across sports competitions, youth initiatives, cultural events and community awareness programmes conducted during the six-day festival. Company representatives who took part in the recruitment drives and contributed to youth employment efforts received special recognition.

Dr. Sonibala Devi highlighted that recruitment fairs conducted between May 1 and 12 at district locations attracted applications from approximately 40,000 jobless young people. She noted that over 300 corporate entities participated in these recruitment initiatives and advanced around 11,200 candidates for further consideration.

Each day of the festival, which ran from May 18 through May 23, emphasised distinct priorities including sports development, youth empowerment, employment pathways, skills training and community engagement, Dr. Sonibala Devi explained.
