Hyderabad Grapples with Fuel Availability Crisis as Petrol Pumps Display Empty Stock

Hyderabad and neighbouring districts have been hit by a wave of fuel unavailability as petrol pumps across the region put up "No Stock" notices. The situation has triggered considerable anxiety among vehicle owners, with long lines forming at stations that continue to dispense fuel.

Motorists have encountered significant difficulties obtaining diesel, with crowds converging on any outlet still able to supply fuel. Many vehicle owners have spent hours queuing at pumps, while others have travelled between multiple stations hunting for available supplies.

State officials have moved to downplay concerns about any widespread scarcity. Civil Supplies Commissioner Stephen Ravindra dismissed claims of a state-level fuel crisis, asserting that petrol and diesel inventories remain adequate to satisfy consumer demand. According to Ravindra, isolated disruptions at certain pump locations have generated unnecessary alarm among the public.

Ravindra noted that operational challenges at some fuel stations have resulted in temporary closures, with these outlets expected to resume operations once issues are resolved. He appealed to residents to remain calm and refrain from stockpiling fuel.

Medchal and Shamirpet Face Acute Supply Pressures

The mandals of Medchal and Shamirpet have experienced particularly acute shortages. Numerous fuel stations in these areas are displaying "No Stock" signage, with diesel proving especially difficult to obtain. Transport vehicles have accumulated at pump locations, with drivers waiting extended periods to refuel their vehicles.

Truck operators have reported needing to travel considerable distances to secure diesel supplies, disrupting their logistics schedules. Authorities have attributed the strain to heightened consumption patterns. Officials have pointed to fuel scarcities in bordering states as a contributing factor, noting that vehicles from those regions are converging on nearby districts and amplifying local demand.

At functional pumps, queues continue to stretch as supply fails to keep pace with sudden consumption surges. The transport industry continues to experience disruptions stemming from the unpredictable availability of diesel supplies.
