A tragic incident in Mancherial has claimed the lives of four farmers after a tin structure collapsed at a paddy procurement facility in Lakshmepet municipality during a severe storm.

The farmers were stationed at the procurement centre overnight to safeguard heaps of paddy when intense winds and rainfall swept through the region. As they scrambled to prevent water damage to the grain, the metal shed was torn apart by the powerful gusts and came crashing down on them.

Venkatesh, Abhiram, Lachanna, and Nagaraju sustained critical injuries in the collapse and were pronounced dead at the scene. The incident also left four additional farmers with serious wounds.

Emergency responders, including local residents and police personnel, arrived at the location following distress calls and initiated rescue efforts. The injured farmers were initially transported to Lakshmepet government hospital before being transferred to a medical facility in Karimnagar for specialized care. Medical staff reported that their conditions remained grave.

The severe weather system caused widespread disruption across the Lakshmepet area and surrounding localities. Uprooted trees blocked roadways, utility poles were toppled in several locations, and power supply was cut off to numerous neighbourhoods. Traffic movement in the region was significantly hampered by debris.

Farmers from the affected communities have appealed to authorities for urgent support for the bereaved families and requested compensation for agricultural losses resulting from the destructive weather conditions.
