Telangana Enforces Mandatory 24-Hour Reporting for Foreign Nationals Under New Immigration Act

Hyderabad: A new set of regulations governing the tracking of foreign nationals has come into effect across Telangana under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025. The framework requires multiple categories of establishments to immediately document and register visitors or residents from abroad.
Accommodation providers—including hotels, hostels, guest houses, and private residences—must now submit information about foreign nationals through Form III via an online portal within a single day. Medical facilities that provide lodging for patients and their attendants face identical obligations under the directive.
Educational institutions have been assigned comparable responsibilities. Schools, colleges, and universities enrolling international students are required to file details using Form II through the designated digital system, also within 24 hours of the person's admission.
All entities subject to these rules must retain records for a minimum of one year. Government officials emphasized that the initiative seeks to enhance oversight mechanisms and ensure adherence to statutory requirements.
The Hyderabad police force has tasked Deputy Commissioners of Police overseeing law and order to conduct information sessions across the city. These awareness campaigns are designed to educate accommodation providers, healthcare administrators, and institutional leadership about their obligations under the new framework.
Authorities have instructed all relevant organizations to implement the provisions without exception, cautioning that non-compliance will result in prosecution under the Act's provisions.
