Hyderabad — The Flying Squad of Telangana's Commissioner of Food Safety has taken enforcement action against a snacks manufacturing operation in Nagole following a surprise inspection that uncovered substantial non-compliance with food safety requirements.

The raid on M/s Balaji Pheni & Namkeen Unit was triggered by a report published in a newspaper. During the inspection, officials documented numerous deviations from established food safety protocols.

The confiscation included 150 kg of cooking oil, 720 kg of sev, and 120 kg of potato chips. The food safety department plans to serve notices to the establishment and proceed with adjudication under the Food Safety and Standards Act.

"This action is part of our commitment to strengthening compliance with food safety regulations and safeguarding consumer health," officials stated, emphasizing that such inspections form a regular component of their oversight activities.

The department has issued guidance for the public, recommending that consumers purchase snacks and namkeen exclusively from licensed and authorized vendors. Citizens are also advised to carefully examine product packaging, verify expiry dates, and assess overall quality before purchase.

Authorities have indicated their intention to maintain a schedule of regular inspections across food businesses to ensure adherence to safety standards and protect the food supply chain.
