Hyderabad Police Dismantle Elaborate 2-BHK Housing Allotment Scam

Hyderabad authorities have dismantled a sophisticated housing fraud racket operating in the city. The Alwal Police arrested three suspects involved in swindling approximately 100 residents by offering fake Government 2-BHK house allotments.

The operation netted 79 forged Government 2-BHK allotment certificates and three mobile phones used to perpetrate the scheme. Police identified the three arrested individuals as Timmiri Gopinath Pushpalatha, 54, a resident of Tirumalagiri, her 21-year-old son Timmiri Gopinath Vishal, and 45-year-old Mahender Singh, who operates Radhaswamy Xerox Centre in Tirumalagiri. All three were presented before a court and placed in judicial custody.

The Fraudulent Operation

The accused reportedly extracted between ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh from each victim under the pretence of processing fees. They falsely represented that Pushpalatha held a senior administrative position within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and possessed the authority to facilitate Government 2-BHK house allotments.

To establish credibility with their targets, the perpetrators distributed forged allotment certificates to victims. Approximately 100 economically disadvantaged individuals accepted these documents as legitimate and waited nearly three years before realising they had been defrauded.

Investigation records indicate that Pushpalatha and Vishal were responsible for fabricating the allotment certificates. Singh allegedly utilised his xerox facility in Trimulgherry to design and produce the counterfeit documents.

Investigation and Ongoing Search

The complaint originated from Gogikar Prasad. Alwal Police registered a case (Crime No.489/2026) on May 20, 2026, and initiated their investigation. The three suspects were apprehended on June 24.

Police disclosed that primary accused Jayaraj Gangadharan, along with associates Nisha Raj, Chintu Raj, and Raj & Co. Rubber Stamps of Ranigunj, remain at large. Dedicated teams are actively pursuing leads to locate and detain these fugitives.

The inquiry proceeded under the oversight of Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch. Sridhar, IPS, supported by senior officials from the Malkajgiri Commissionerate. Detective Inspector K. Veerababu, Detective Sub-Inspector K. Chandra Shekar, and the Alwal Police unit successfully uncovered the case.

Public Advisory

Police have issued a cautionary statement to the public, advising citizens to exercise extreme caution against individuals promising Government benefits such as 2-BHK housing, employment opportunities, land allocations, or welfare scheme access. Authorities recommend that residents independently verify such claims directly with the relevant Government departments and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through emergency lines 100 or 112.
