Hyderabad — D. S. V. R. Murthy has taken on the role of Chief Postmaster General for Telangana Circle, beginning his tenure on Tuesday.

An officer from the 1998 batch of the Indian Postal Service, Murthy brings considerable experience from his previous posting as Chief Postmaster General of the Jammu and Kashmir Postal Circle, where he served since November 17, 2025.

A Computer Science Engineering graduate of GITAM, Murthy is originally from Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh. He commenced his career with the Department of Posts on September 7, 1998.

Throughout his professional journey, Murthy has held a range of significant roles across India's postal network. His early career included positions as SSRM and Manager at Air Mail operations in Mumbai, SSPOs in Bengaluru, and APMG at the Bengaluru Circle Office. He also served as Deputy Director at the Postal Training Centre in Mysore.

At the Junior Administrative Grade level, Murthy served as Director of Postal Services in both Chennai and Vijayawada. His subsequent responsibilities encompassed roles as Additional Director at the Rafi Ahmed Kidwai National Postal Academy and as Postmaster General overseeing South Karnataka and Vijayawada regions.

Following his promotion to the Higher Administrative Grade, he led the Jammu and Kashmir Postal Circle before his current appointment.

The Telangana Postal Circle has welcomed Murthy's arrival, with officials and staff expressing confidence in his capacity to lead. They noted that his extensive administrative background and track record position him well to strengthen and modernise postal services throughout the state.

Postal administrators have indicated that Murthy's appointment is anticipated to advance efficiency improvements and broaden service delivery across Telangana.
