BJP leader Dr Laxman calls for Assembly debate on Congress poll commitments

Hyderabad: BJP OBC Morcha National President and MP Dr Laxman has launched a sharp critique of the Congress government, accusing Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of failing to deliver on pre-election pledges made to Telangana voters.

Addressing the matter following remarks by the Chief Minister at a Nalgonda gathering, Dr Laxman pointed out that citizens had shifted their support to Congress after growing frustrated with the previous BRS administration. Yet, he contended, the current ruling dispensation has reneged on the assurances offered during the Assembly elections.

The BJP leader itemised several unfulfilled guarantees, including the promised recruitment of two lakh government employees within twelve months. He also cited commitments regarding unemployment assistance, monthly stipends for women, pension provisions of Rs 4,000, gold awards for marriages, and two-wheeler schemes for female students—all of which, he alleged, remain unimplemented.

Dr Laxman characterised the government's approach as diversionary tactics designed to deflect attention from its administrative shortcomings.

In a direct challenge to the Congress administration, Dr Laxman has called for the Assembly to convene and conduct a transparent discussion on the party's electoral commitments. He expressed the BJP's readiness to engage in such a dialogue.

The BJP MP simultaneously highlighted what he described as the substantial developmental achievements of the Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the preceding twelve years. He underscored that central welfare initiatives have reached disadvantaged populations across India in a manner that transcends caste and religious divisions, suggesting this inclusive approach has contributed to the electorate's repeated endorsement of the BJP.

Dr Laxman concluded his remarks by urging the Congress government to abandon what he termed negative campaigning and instead concentrate on fulfilling the guarantees made to the people of Telangana.
