Delhi Airport Issues Health Advisory for Passengers from Ebola-Affected Regions

Authorities at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport have implemented a health advisory targeting international arrivals from Ebola-affected regions in Africa, as concerns mount over potential virus transmission.

The Directorate General of Health Services, operating under India's Union Health Ministry, formulated the advisory, which was subsequently communicated to the travelling public through the airport's official social media channels.

Drawing on World Health Organization assessments, officials have designated the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan as higher-risk zones. The directive applies not only to passengers originating from these countries but also to those transiting through them.

Travellers entering India from these nations are required to notify airport health personnel of any symptoms prior to completing immigration procedures. The warning signs specified include fever, vomiting, severe weakness, diarrhoea, headache, muscle pain, sore throat, and unexplained bleeding.

The advisory further instructs passengers who have had direct contact with blood or body fluids of individuals suspected of carrying the virus to report this exposure to airport health officials without delay.

Should symptoms develop within a three-week window following arrival in India, passengers are directed to seek medical attention promptly and inform healthcare providers of their recent international travel history.

Recent epidemiological data from the Democratic Republic of Congo indicates 513 suspected cases and 131 suspected deaths related to the outbreak. In response to the situation, Jordan has implemented temporary travel restrictions on individuals arriving from Congo and Uganda.

Airport management has called upon all passengers to cooperate fully with health screening procedures as part of broader efforts to safeguard public health.
