BRS Leader Challenges CM's Extended Work Hours Proposal, Points to Governance Failures

Hyderabad: Opposition leader Dasoju Sravan, a BRS MLC, has taken aim at Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's reported call for state employees to put in an extra hour of work each day, contending that such measures miss the fundamental issues plaguing Telangana's administration.

Speaking on Friday, Sravan dismissed the notion that extended working hours would strengthen governance. He stressed instead that sustainable revenue generation flows from well-designed policies, competent execution, institutional overhaul, and strong leadership—not from employees spending more time at their desks.

The BRS leader attributed Telangana's mounting financial woes to the Congress administration's track record of graft, flawed decision-making, and governance shortcomings. He pointed to the government's inability to build reliable revenue streams through genuine economic expansion and capital attraction.

Sravan also levelled charges that the state government has permitted haphazard decision-making, unauthorized building demolitions, heavy-handed police action, and muddled policy direction. These conditions, he suggested, have eroded administrative capacity and sown confusion within state institutions.

Questioning the government's "Rising Telangana" slogan, Sravan posed pointed queries about why the state continues to grapple with revenue shortfalls and mounting liabilities. Rather than scapegoating employees, he urged the Chief Minister to investigate the structural causes of Telangana's fiscal strain.

The opposition figure further asserted that the Congress administration has failed to deliver on multiple commitments made during its campaign for office. He called on the Chief Minister to prioritize substantive administrative work and policy execution over media-focused initiatives. Sravan emphasized that addressing the state's economic challenges demands fiscal prudence, administrative openness, and targeted investment strategies.
