BRS Leader Challenges Telangana Government Over Eidgah Land Acquisition in Khairatabad

Hyderabad: A senior BRS legislator has levelled serious charges against the state government, asserting that it is seizing Eidgah land in Khairatabad while disregarding previous pledges to the local Muslim population.
MLC Dasoju Sravan Kumar took to social media to voice his concerns, stating that construction of a government structure has commenced on property in Banjara Hills that Muslims in the area have historically relied upon for Eid celebrations. According to his account, past administrations had permitted community access to the location and had committed to maintaining it as a prayer ground.
The property in question falls within Survey No. 10 of Banjara Hills, situated in the Khairatabad Assembly constituency, Sravan noted. He contended that the government had deliberately left the land unused for an extended period as part of an understanding reached with residents.
The dispute has drawn political scrutiny, with the BRS leader characterizing the action as a violation of democratic principles. He contended that the administration was disregarding undertakings made to the Muslim community and proceeding with development despite objections from those affected.
Sravan pointed to a historical precedent, noting that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had inaugurated the Eid Thofa programme from this very location during the previous BRS administration. The venue has functioned as a gathering point for Eid observances and community events for years, he stated.
The BRS politician further argued that repurposing the land for state projects demonstrated governmental overreach and disrespected community interests. He called on the administration to preserve the Eidgah and honour the commitments previously extended to residents.
As of now, the state government has offered no formal statement addressing the allegations raised by the opposition leader.
