BRS MLC Challenges Congress on Contradictory Stance Toward Trump

Hyderabad—Dasoju Shravan, a BRS Member of the Legislative Council, has penned a letter to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi raising concerns about what he describes as contradictory positions adopted by the party on both domestic and global matters.

Shravan's correspondence points to what he views as a fundamental gap between the stance of Congress's national leadership based in New Delhi and the policies being implemented by the Telangana government. He emphasized that his critique was not directed at Gandhi personally, but rather aimed at drawing attention to what he characterizes as ideological inconsistencies within the party's overall approach.

In his letter, Shravan posed pointed questions about whether Congress maintains a consistent ideological framework throughout India, or whether it adjusts its positions based on situational political advantage.

To substantiate his claims, Shravan referenced a statement released on June 20 by Congress national spokesperson Pawan Khera. According to the letter, the Congress statement took aim at the Union government's foreign policy approach, contending that the Centre places greater emphasis on generating publicity than safeguarding national interests. The statement further criticized the relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump.

Yet Shravan argued that this national-level position stands in stark contrast to recent actions in Telangana. He alleged that the state government is preparing to unveil "Donald Trump Avenue" in Hyderabad's Financial District, situated in proximity to the US Consulate.

Shravan highlighted the timing as particularly significant, noting that the street naming initiative comes mere days after Congress figures at the national level voiced criticism of Trump. He subsequently challenged Gandhi to explain how the party could justify what he termed a fundamental contradiction between its national messaging and state-level actions.

The controversy has injected a new political dimension into ongoing discussions about the consistency of Congress's policy positions across different administrative levels.
