Health Minister Reviews TIMS Sanathnagar Trial Operations, Directs Expansion of Services

Hyderabad — Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha conducted an inspection of TIMS Sanathnagar's ongoing trial operations on Monday, instructing departmental officials to transform the facility into a full-service medical centre.

The review session took place at the State Secretariat, where the minister engaged with senior officials from the Health Department, including Special Chief Secretary Christina Z Chongthu and other administrative heads. They presented an overview of the medical services being delivered during the trial phase, along with operational challenges and gaps that had emerged.

The minister's inspection encompassed multiple sections of the hospital, including outpatient registration systems, consultation facilities, patient waiting spaces, diagnostic departments, ward facilities, surgical theatres, and critical care units.

The trial phase currently encompasses 22 medical departments offering outpatient services. Surgical theatres have been prepared for operative procedures. Diagnostic infrastructure has been equipped with CT Scan, MRI, and digital X-ray systems, with testing protocols underway as part of the trial phase.

The minister had previously tasked officials with positioning TIMS Sanathnagar as a Centre of Excellence dedicated to cardiac interventions and organ transplantation services. During the review, he assessed the development of catheterization laboratories and transplant operation theatres. Officials confirmed that catheterization lab installation had been completed and was ready for trial operations.

Rajanarsimha additionally emphasized improvements to support services, directing authorities to enhance sanitation and security measures throughout the hospital. He mandated the establishment of food services for patients and their families, as well as accommodation facilities for attendants in the form of a dharmashala.

The minister tasked Health Department leadership with advancing TIMS Sanathnagar's development into an institution capable of delivering comprehensive healthcare services across all specialties.
