Law enforcement in Hyderabad has apprehended a man accused of systematically targeting women through deceptive matrimonial profiles, marking another significant operation against cyber-enabled romance fraud.

Manda Venkata Kameshu, a resident of Undrajawaram in West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, was arrested by Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police following an investigation into multiple fraud complaints. Authorities determined that the accused had established fraudulent accounts across several matrimonial platforms, including Telugu Matrimony, Reddy Matrimony, Brahmin Matrimony, and Kamma Matrimony.

The modus operandi involved presenting himself as a financially secure professional through fabricated identities. Women searching for matrimonial matches were systematically befriended through WhatsApp conversations, Instagram messaging, and emotionally manipulative dialogue designed to build false trust.

Once rapport was established, the accused would persuade his victims to transfer funds or divulge sensitive financial information under various pretexts. According to investigators, the money obtained through these frauds was subsequently used for online betting and casino activities in Goa.

Police records indicate the suspect's involvement in approximately 20 criminal cases spanning fraud and matrimonial scams registered across both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Following his arrest during the ongoing investigation, he has been remanded to judicial custody.

In response to this case, Cyberabad Police have issued guidance for the public. Authorities cautioned individuals to exercise vigilance when engaging with unfamiliar persons on matrimonial websites and social media platforms. Verification of identities and background information is strongly recommended before pursuing any matrimonial connections.

Law enforcement specifically warned against accepting profiles based solely on photographs, claimed employment status, or displayed material affluence. Citizens have been advised never to share one-time passwords (OTPs), banking credentials, debit card details, or other financial information with unknown contacts.

Those who suspect cyber fraud can file complaints through the 1930 Cyber Helpline or visit their nearest Cyber Crime Police Station.
