Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Commissionerate observed the 12th International Yoga Day on Saturday with Police Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh, IPS, calling on officers to integrate yoga into their everyday lives. The gathering at the Cyberabad Commissionerate Parade Ground took place under the banner "Yoga for Wellness, Readiness & Resilience".

Approximately 250 police officers and staff members attended the event, which was joined by Kukatpally Deputy Commissioner of Police Rithiraj and Headquarters Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev. Participants engaged in various yoga asanas, pranayama techniques, and meditation during the observance.

Dr. Ramesh spoke of yoga as an enduring gift from Indian civilisation to humanity at large. He highlighted how consistent practice enhances both physical well-being and mental health, enabling organs to function optimally.

The Commissioner underscored that effective policing demands more than physical conditioning—it requires mental composure. Drawing on the theme "A Calm Mind, A Strong Body, A Safer Society," he urged officers to cultivate fitness and mental clarity through regular yoga practice.

According to Dr. Ramesh, yoga builds mental fortitude and strengthens the capacity to think clearly when facing challenging situations. Breath work, he noted, plays a crucial role in calming the mind and building resilience against workplace stress.

The Commissioner recommended that police personnel allocate daily time for yoga, pranayama, and meditation. He acknowledged that policing inherently involves considerable stress, making wellness initiatives vital for sustaining job performance.

Advancing the vision of "Fearless Service – Fit Force, Focused Mind," Dr. Ramesh appealed to officers to strengthen their physical condition, emotional stability, and professional capabilities. He reinforced that a healthy workforce forms the foundation of quality policing, encapsulated in the message "Better Health – Better Policing."
