Cyberabad Commissioner Addresses Civic Concerns During KPHB Colony Inspection

Hyderabad: As part of her ongoing "One Ward Every Day" initiative, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner G Srijana undertook a field visit to KPHB Colony within Kukatpally Circle to assess civic infrastructure and address grievances raised by local resident welfare associations.

The Commissioner was accompanied by the Zonal Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and other municipal officials during the inspection of the residential area. At a meeting held at a local playground, representatives from RWAs presented multiple concerns affecting residents' quality of life.

Among the key issues brought to the Commissioner's attention were problems stemming from hostel operations and informal food preparation activities along roadsides. Residents also flagged the persistent problem of vehicles being parked indiscriminately on internal roads, disrupting neighbourhood traffic flow. Additionally, community members drew attention to encroachments on footpaths that have begun to obstruct pedestrian pathways and restrict movement through the colony.

A significant concern involved delays in the execution of development projects funded under the MP-LADS programme, with pending works valued at ₹30 lakh remaining incomplete.

During the ground-level assessment, the Commissioner and RWA representatives walked through the internal roads and lanes of KPHB Colony. Officials identified specific areas where footpath encroachments had occurred, particularly along the stretch between Maifil Hotel and the Indu Projects area. The inspection also examined approaches to enhancing traffic management and the orderly use of public spaces throughout the residential zone.

Municipal authorities emphasised the necessity of implementing proper source segregation protocols in accordance with the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026. The Commissioner instructed relevant departments to establish facilities for dry leaf composting within the colony's parks. Officials also outlined plans for a systematic weekly collection process designed to handle bulk waste items such as old furniture and thermocol materials.

The Commissioner instructed all departments involved to accelerate the completion of outstanding projects and furnish comprehensive Action Taken Reports documenting their progress.

During her visit, the Commissioner urged resident welfare associations to take on a more active role in community-driven civic improvement initiatives. Officials also appealed to residents to participate in the upcoming Census 2027 self-enumeration process.

This visit marked the eighth day of the Commissioner's field inspection programme across different wards in the municipal corporation's jurisdiction.
