CV Anand Takes Over as Telangana's New Police Chief

Hyderabad — CV Anand, a senior officer from the Indian Police Service, has officially taken charge as the Director General of Police of Telangana on Friday morning.
The 1991-batch IPS officer arrived at the DGP headquarters in Hyderabad, where he was greeted by senior police officials. A ceremonial guard of honour was presented to him at the office premises before he formally assumed his new responsibilities.
Anand brings a distinguished career spanning multiple decades in law enforcement. His postings have included positions as Assistant Superintendent of Police and Superintendent of Police in the then-unified Warangal, Adilabad, and Nizamabad districts. He has also held significant roles managing law and order in regions affected by Maoist activity.
His recent positions have included serving as Hyderabad Police Commissioner, Cyberabad Police Commissioner, Traffic Commissioner, and Special Chief Secretary in the Home Department.
Throughout his tenure in various capacities, Anand has earned recognition for championing technology-based approaches to policing. In his traffic management role, he introduced e-challan systems and speed detection equipment to enhance enforcement transparency and improve road safety standards across Hyderabad.
To address congestion challenges, he implemented infrastructure innovations including reversible lanes and free-left turning systems, measures aimed at optimizing traffic flow in the city.
As Anand assumes his role as the full-time head of the Telangana Police, observers and officials are keen to see what policing strategies and reforms he will prioritize during his tenure as DGP.
