Police Commissioner Issues Safety Guidelines Following Jubilee Hills Homicide

Hyderabad's top police official has released a comprehensive safety advisory in the wake of a fatal incident at the residence of a retired IPS officer in the Jubilee Hills neighbourhood.
The victim has been identified as the spouse of retired IPS officer Vinay Ranjan Ray. Authorities believe a domestic worker originally from Nepal is responsible for the crime.
According to investigators, the suspect entered the residence when household members were away and allegedly attempted a robbery that escalated into violence. The Police Commissioner revealed that the accused reportedly gagged the victim with cloth before causing her death through asphyxiation, apparently to prevent her from alerting others.
Heightened Vigilance Recommended for Employers
Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has called on residents to exercise greater caution when employing domestic help. He cautioned that organised criminal groups often conduct surveillance on households to understand daily patterns and routines before targeting them for crimes.
The Commissioner specifically recommended that homeowners maintain close observation of domestic workers' behaviour and movement patterns within their residences.
In addition, Sajjanar directed citizens to ensure police verification procedures are completed before employing workers from other states or countries. Residents are instructed to furnish Aadhaar identification, photographs, and complete personal documentation to their local police stations during the verification process.
The suspect has reportedly absconded from the scene, prompting authorities to intensify their search operations.
The incident at a senior retired police officer's home has sparked considerable public attention and concern throughout Hyderabad.
