Hyderabad Court Issues Defamation Notice to Kamareddy MLA Venkata Ramana Reddy

A defamation notice has been issued against Kamareddy MLA Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy by the Special Court for Cases of MLAs and MPs at Nampally in Hyderabad, based on a complaint filed by Mohammed Ilyasuddin, son of Government Adviser Mohammed Ali Shabbir.
The complainant alleged that the legislator made inflammatory remarks on February 17 and February 21, 2026, in the aftermath of the Kamareddy municipal election results. According to the petition, Venkata Ramana Reddy falsely implicated Mohammed Ilyasuddin in rape-related cases without any factual basis.
The complaint further stated that the MLA deliberately disseminated these statements through media channels, despite being aware that the accusations lacked any foundation. Advocate Garakarajula Sumanth, representing the complainant, highlighted that these remarks have caused significant harm to the complainant's standing in the community.
Following preliminary arguments presented before the court, the judge has directed the MLA to appear for further proceedings on May 20. The legal representation for the complainant includes advocates Garakarajula Sumanth, Gangarajam, Stephen Raju, and Satish Surya.
The case will continue to be heard before the Special Court for Cases of MLAs and MPs as it progresses through the judicial process.
