Congress activists organised a demonstration in Warangal West constituency on Saturday to voice their opposition to the recent increases in fuel prices, levelling criticism at the Central government for what they characterised as an unfair burden on the public.

The protest began with a rally that commenced from the Hanumakonda DCC office and proceeded to Ashok Junction. Participants carried an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the streets while shouting slogans against the Centre's policies.

At the conclusion of the march, protesters set fire to the effigy as a symbolic act of dissent. Congress leaders highlighted that petrol and diesel prices had been raised immediately following the recent elections. They contended that this decision placed an undue financial strain on ordinary citizens.

The party representatives further argued that the price increases were unjustifiable given the decline in international crude oil rates. According to their assessment, the government had failed in its responsibility to manage fuel costs effectively.

Congress leaders asserted that the BJP administration prioritised corporate interests at the expense of the common people. They pointed out that elevated fuel costs had cascading effects on the prices of essential goods, creating particular hardship for middle-income and economically disadvantaged households.

The demonstration highlighted the struggles faced by multiple segments of society, including farmers and auto drivers, whose livelihoods have been affected by the fuel price escalation.

Party representatives drew a contrast with the government's earlier campaign slogan "Achche Din," suggesting that public experience had instead become characterised by hardship. Congress leaders pledged to maintain their advocacy on matters affecting the public and demanded an immediate reversal of the fuel price hike. They vowed to continue organising protests until the Central government took action to reduce fuel prices.

The gathering included District Library Organisation chairman Aziz Khan, former floor leader Thota Venkateshwarlu, and former corporators Jakkula Ravinder Yadav, Pothula Sriman, and Madhavi. District Mahila Congress president Banka Sarala and numerous other party officials also attended the event.
