Hyderabad — The Congress party has committed to rigorous oversight of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with party officials warning that they will take action if authorities remove legitimate voters improperly.

Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy articulated these concerns during a video conference convened by AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, alongside TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud and AICC Secretary Sachin Sawant on Saturday. He emphasised that the party would maintain vigilance at booth level to prevent the arbitrary deletion of genuine voters.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy stressed the importance of ground-level verification before any voter names are struck from the rolls. Rather than mechanical deletions conducted from office premises, he advocated for door-to-door verification by Booth Level Officers. He further insisted that officials provide written notice to voters scheduled for removal, along with clear justification and adequate time for appeals.

The Minister declared that Congress would intensify pressure on the Election Commission and district authorities to maintain transparency throughout the revision exercise. He warned that the party would lodge complaints at every administrative level if officials deliberately removed qualified voters from the rolls.

Party cadre in Nalgonda and Bhongir Parliamentary constituencies have been mobilised for the exercise, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy noted. He directed corporators, councillors, and booth-level leaders to collaborate closely with election officials to ensure proper conduct.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy cautioned that the Congress party would initiate mass protests if injustice occurs during the process. He highlighted that the united Nalgonda district has remained a Congress stronghold, with the party securing both Bhongir and Nalgonda Lok Sabha seats before and after assuming power in the state.

The Minister proposed establishing dedicated complaint committees at Assembly and constituency levels to address grievances. Senior Congress leaders K. Jana Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy will oversee developments related to the revision exercise.

During the meeting, Meenakshi Natarajan affirmed that dedicated party workers should be rewarded with nominated and corporation positions. Komatireddy Venkat Reddy agreed to consult with Uttam Kumar Reddy, Jana Reddy, and Mahesh Kumar Goud before finalising recommendations for such appointments.

The video conference was attended by Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, MLAs from the united Nalgonda district, and other senior Congress leaders.
