BJP Accuses Congress Administration of Failing Farmers on Paddy Procurement

The Congress-led state government has failed to manage paddy procurement effectively, leaving farmers across Telangana in dire straits, according to BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday following a party training session held at a private engineering college in Thimmapur mandal within Karimnagar district's LMD Colony, Ramchander Rao characterized the procurement system as severely mismanaged.
Farmers are encountering considerable hardship at procurement facilities, he said, pointing to insufficient amenities and infrastructure. The BJP leader further alleged that administrative pressure was compelling cultivators to bypass official channels and transport their grain directly to rice mills, where they are forced to accept depressed prices.
Ramchander Rao contended that the state administration was deliberately obscuring the truth and unjustly attributing procurement failures to the central government. "The Centre has established the minimum support price and is financing the entire procurement operation," he stated, asserting that the state was attempting to evade accountability by transferring blame upward.
The BJP leader also highlighted the confusion created by conflicting public statements from state ministers and officials regarding procurement arrangements, which he characterized as evidence of governmental indifference toward the crisis.
Beyond procurement concerns, Ramchander Rao called for urgent assistance for paddy and mango farmers who suffered crop damage from unexpected rainfall. He instructed district collectors to expedite assessments of agricultural losses and ensure timely disbursement of compensation to affected farmers.
The BJP leader issued a warning that continued neglect of farmers' welfare would result in political repercussions for the government.
The event was attended by BJP district president Gangadi Krishna Reddy, Mayor Kolakani Srinivas, Deputy Mayor Yadagiri Sunil Rao, former MLAs Suddala Devaiah and Bodige Shobha, and various district and mandal-level party officials.
