Commercial LPG Prices Rise Again as June 1 Revision Takes Effect

Oil marketing companies across India have implemented a fresh round of price increases for commercial LPG cylinders effective June 1, adding to mounting cost pressures on the hospitality and food service sectors.

The revision targets 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders, directly affecting hotels, restaurants, and small enterprises that rely on these supplies for daily operations. Domestic consumers, however, have been spared—the price of 14.2-kg household cylinders remained stable during this adjustment.

The magnitude of increases varied by location. In the national capital, a 19-kg commercial cylinder saw a Rs 42 jump, bringing the new rate to Rs 3,113.50. Kolkata experienced the steepest rise at Rs 53.50 per cylinder, with prices climbing to Rs 3,255.50. Mumbai's commercial cylinder price crossed the Rs 3,024 mark following the latest revision.

These increments represent the latest in a succession of upward adjustments affecting the commercial segment. During May alone, prices had surged by as much as Rs 993, creating a cumulative burden for businesses dependent on this fuel source.

Market analysts attribute the sustained price movements to global crude oil volatility and regional geopolitical developments in West Asia that have disrupted energy markets. Supply chain disruptions at the international level have further contributed to the upward trajectory.

The implications extend beyond direct fuel costs. Industry watchers anticipate that commercial establishments may transfer a portion of these increased expenses to consumers through higher menu prices and service charges. Businesses operating on thin margins face particular challenges in absorbing the additional operational costs in the coming weeks.
