Second Edition of "Coffee with a Cop" Fosters Mental Health Dialogue Among Young Adults in Hyderabad

Hyderabad's Society for Cyberabad Security Council recently hosted the second iteration of "Coffee with a Cop," an initiative centred on the theme "Mental Wellness Begins with Conversation." The gathering created a dedicated space for young adults aged 16 to 25 to engage in candid discussions about their emotions, lived experiences and personal viewpoints without fear of judgment.
Rashmi Srivastava, Director – Strategic Project Execution at SCSC, facilitated the session and actively encouraged participants to contribute their thoughts and insights throughout the programme.
K. Srujana, Deputy Commissioner of Police from the women and child safety wing, shared her perspectives with attendees, touching upon themes of resilience, emotional equilibrium and strategies for managing work-related stress while nurturing meaningful family bonds.
The session incorporated several interactive components aimed at keeping participants engaged and prompting introspection. The programme included wellness-focused charades and structured "Red Flag/Green Flag" discussions that allowed young people to reflect on various scenarios and situations.
Organisers emphasised that the event sought to normalise conversations around mental health challenges among the youth demographic and establish a welcoming environment where such discussions could flourish. Participants readily engaged, articulating their own perspectives and recounting personal narratives throughout the gathering.
As the programme drew to a close, attendees came together to perform uplifting songs with themes of optimism, encouragement and self-acceptance. Organisers noted that the event underscored the significance of substantive conversations in fostering emotional resilience and mental wellness within young communities.
