Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Provides Financial Relief to Haj Pilgrims Amid Rising Fuel Costs

Hyderabad — Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy dispatched buses carrying Haj pilgrims from Hyderabad Haj House on Friday while announcing financial assistance to address unexpected expenses faced by Telangana residents embarking on the sacred journey.
Speaking at the Haj House, Revanth Reddy stated that the state government would cover the additional costs incurred by pilgrims following elevated fuel prices driven by the geopolitical situation in Iran.
The event drew attendance from Minister Mohammed Azharuddin, Government Advisor Mohammed Shabbir Ali, MPs Anil Kumar Yadav and Asaduddin Owaisi, MLC Riyaz ul Hassan Effendi, and MLA Mohammed Jaffar Hussain. Prominent community leaders including Minority Educational Institutions Society President Mohammed Faheemuddin Qureshi, Haj Committee Chairman Ghulam Afzal Biabani, Waqf Board Chairman Syed Azmatullah Hussaini, TGMFC Chairman Obedullah Kotwal, and Urdu Academy President Taher Bin Hamdan also participated.
Government Steps In to Support Pilgrims
Authorities had levied an additional charge of Rs. 10,000 on each pilgrim to account for increased fuel expenses. The Chief Minister noted that this sudden imposition created financial hardship for many pilgrims who had limited time to arrange the funds.
In response, the state government decided to absorb this additional burden for approximately 7,000 Haj pilgrims from Telangana.
Addressing the gathering, Revanth Reddy extended his wishes to those undertaking the pilgrimage and reaffirmed the government's commitment to advancing minority welfare and development initiatives across the state.
Broader Vision for Inclusive Development
The Chief Minister characterised Hindus and Muslims as "two eyes" and described both communities as brothers, emphasizing the need for unified efforts in advancing Telangana's progress.
He highlighted that the government was rolling out welfare and development programmes with active participation from minority communities. Revanth Reddy assured minorities that welfare schemes would be allocated proportionally to their population.
The Chief Minister also touched upon emerging employment challenges, noting that artificial intelligence was creating uncertainty in white-collar job markets. He urged students to pursue skill development through available training centres, polytechnic institutions, and skill universities, which he identified as government priorities.
Revanth Reddy pointed to employment opportunities in countries such as Japan, Germany, South Korea, the United States, and Middle Eastern nations, encouraging youth to enhance their professional capabilities for international career prospects.
Remembering Past Tragedy
The Chief Minister recalled the bus accident during last year's Haj pilgrimage that claimed 44 lives. The government provided compensation of Rs. 5 lakh to each affected family, he noted.
Revanth Reddy reiterated that the government remained committed to addressing challenges faced by minority communities and would continue providing support during times of crisis.
He concluded by acknowledging the profound spiritual significance of Haj for believers and requested pilgrims to offer prayers for Telangana's prosperity and advancement during their pilgrimage.
