Telangana CM Charts Path for Bharat Future City as Global Development Hub

Telangana's Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has outlined an ambitious vision for Bharat Future City, pledging to establish it as a world-class urban centre comparable to Singapore, Tokyo and New York. The announcement came during a foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Future City Police Commissionerate held on Tuesday, signalling the state's commitment to a transformative development project.
Addressing concerns about land acquisition, the Chief Minister assured farming communities that they would receive equitable compensation for their properties. He emphasised that the government remained dedicated to safeguarding farmers' livelihoods and supporting displaced families, stressing that no section of society would bear the brunt of the development process.
The state government plans to operationalise the Future City Development Corporation office by June 2, with Revanth Reddy indicating that regular progress reviews and investor engagement would form key components of the initiative's rollout. Officials have been directed to conduct village-level assemblies to address requests from residents seeking inclusion of their settlements within the city's boundaries, with decisions to be guided by public consensus.
Recognising the concerns of marginalised communities, the Chief Minister tasked officials with developing targeted interventions for economically disadvantaged groups. Industry Minister D Sridhar Babu was identified as the point person for addressing public grievances throughout the development process.
Drawing parallels with the Outer Ring Road project—which faced initial resistance before demonstrating tangible benefits—Revanth Reddy called for public backing of the Bharat Future City initiative. He dismissed opposition from the BRS political faction as obstructionist, accusing them of disseminating false information to obstruct progress.
The development is positioned to capitalise on three approved bullet train corridors connecting Hyderabad: routes to Bengaluru, a link from Shamshabad to Pune, and another from Shamshabad to Amaravati and Chennai. These rail infrastructure projects are expected to accelerate economic expansion across Rangareddy district and establish Bharat Future City as a magnet for international investment.
In a separate appeal, the Chief Minister called upon Maoist groups to abandon armed struggle and reintegrate into mainstream society, offering government support in the form of rehabilitation services, medical assistance and protective measures for those who surrender.
