Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy inaugurated Education Week celebrations at LB Stadium on Monday, marking the beginning of a week-long initiative under the Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika programme. The observance will run through May 17 and encompass various activities centred on institutional development, educator engagement, and fostering student abilities.
Speaking at the event, Revanth Reddy highlighted the education sector's struggles during the unified Andhra Pradesh era, cautioning that continued neglect would impede the state's progress. He acknowledged students' instrumental contributions to Telangana's statehood, emphasizing that their commitment and sacrifices made the formation of the separate state possible.
The Chief Minister underscored that educational advancement remains essential for broader social progress. Reflecting the government's commitment to this sector, he disclosed that he personally retained the Education portfolio to drive meaningful reforms.
Among the key accomplishments cited by Revanth Reddy were the government's rapid execution of a Disciplined Service Commission notification for over 11,000 teaching positions immediately upon assuming office, with the recruitment process concluded within 60 days. Additionally, the administration facilitated promotions for approximately 22,000 educators who had been denied advancement for nearly two decades.
The Chief Minister characterised teacher relocations as a complex undertaking, noting that the government managed the process efficiently while minimising conflicts. He pointed to recognition from the Centre's NITI Aayog regarding Telangana's educational framework as validation of the state's approach.

The administration is also examining international educational models to inform local policy. A notable initiative involves identifying 500 exceptional educators for overseas exposure to study global education systems and practices.
