The Chaderghat police have successfully concluded a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case with a conviction. The XII Additional Sessions Judge Court in Nampally handed down a five-year rigorous imprisonment sentence to Mohammed Moin Mohiuddin, 45, from Palton in Malakpet, along with imposing a fine of Rs 10,000.

The court found Mohiuddin guilty under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 7 read with Section 8 of the POCSO Act.

The incident in question occurred on June 7, 2024, at approximately 8 pm. A seven-year-old girl was making her way home from a madrasa located on Palton Fourth Lane when the accused allegedly approached her. According to police statements, Mohiuddin lured the child by promising money to buy chocolates before attempting to take her to a building terrace. The child managed to raise an alarm and escape, returning home safely where her mother subsequently filed a report at the Chaderghat Police Station.

Bharosa Centre officials recorded the victim's formal statement following established procedures. Throughout the investigation and courtroom proceedings, the Bharosa team provided counselling and emotional support to both the child and her family. The victim's family has expressed their satisfaction with the court's judgment.

The investigation was led by Inspector D. Ravi Raj, while the prosecution was handled by Special Additional Public Prosecutor P.J. Ramakrishna and Public Prosecutor A. Ram Reddy. Additional support came from Court Duty Officer HC Ch. Bheem Rao and Summons Duty PC G. Sai Nath.

Senior officials monitored the case closely, including DCP Women Safety Dr Lavanya NJP, ACP Women Safety Prasanna Lakshmi, and Inspector Bharosa P. Padma. Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar commended the coordinated efforts of all personnel involved in securing the conviction.
