Telangana Awaits Central Funds for Indiramma Housing Scheme

The Telangana government is still waiting for the Central government to disburse its share of funds under the Indiramma Housing Scheme, according to Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
Speaking informally with journalists on Saturday, the Minister disclosed that the Centre has withheld approximately ₹1.13 lakh per house since March 2026, resulting in delays in releasing final payments to scheme beneficiaries.
The state government intends to proceed with disbursements only after receiving the pending Central contribution. Additionally, the Minister noted that no rural housing projects have received Central approval to date.
Both Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy have made repeated appeals to the Central government to release the outstanding funds.
State May Release Funds Independently
Final payments totalling ₹1.60 lakh for completed houses are currently suspended. However, if the Centre fails to respond within 15 to 20 days, the state government will independently release these payments, the Minister said.
The Indiramma scheme's first phase saw over 3.5 lakh houses sanctioned across Telangana. Approximately 1.32 lakh houses have been completed so far, with construction on another 68,000 to 72,000 houses expected to reach the slab stage by June-end.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is scheduled to launch the scheme's second phase in Adilabad on June 2. The new phase will introduce incentives during the approval process and extend eligibility to structures at varying construction stages, including those at wall stage, basement level, and without roof slabs.
Cabinet to Address Allocation
The state Cabinet meeting scheduled for May 21 will determine the constituency-wise distribution of houses under the scheme.
Recent consultations held across former Telangana districts focused on revenue, housing, stamps and registration matters. Officials gathered input from local representatives and resolved several outstanding concerns during these discussions.
The Minister also mentioned that the government will initiate a joint survey to address land border disputes involving revenue forests. A comprehensive survey programme will identify 70 revenue villages in each district.
To resolve server-related issues affecting registration services, tenders have been issued for new registration software. The project, estimated at ₹14.08 crore, is expected to be completed within three to four months.
