Telangana Launches Self-Enumeration Drive for Census 2027

Hyderabad: A self-enumeration campaign has commenced across Telangana as part of Census 2027, with authorities pushing residents to register their household information digitally rather than through traditional manual surveys.
The Government of India has rolled out the self-enumeration mechanism as a key component of the 2027 census, enabling households to enter their demographic data through an online platform. This shift marks a departure from conventional enumeration methods that relied heavily on field personnel.
Leading by example, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan completed his own self-enumeration and subsequently made a public appeal for citizens to participate. His call specifically targeted residents across the three municipal corporations in the state. GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that robust public engagement would be essential for the initiative's success throughout the city.
State officials have outlined several advantages of the digital self-enumeration approach. They contend that the process will reduce the time required for data collection while simultaneously enhancing the accuracy of information gathered. Additionally, authorities argue that precise census data is fundamental to informed governance decisions and effective planning at the national level.
The government has directed citizens to access the official census portal for self-enumeration. Administrators have characterized the digital system as straightforward, secure, and user-friendly, designed to accommodate participation from diverse households across the state.
Officials have stressed that comprehensive coverage depends on active citizen involvement. They have underscored that accurate and complete enumeration remains vital for national development planning and resource allocation. The authorities have reiterated their expectation that all households participate in the exercise without exception, framing self-enumeration as a civic responsibility that contributes to nation-building while minimizing reliance on door-to-door surveys.
