Hyderabad's census officials are gearing up for a major awareness drive, scheduling a walkathon on May 11 to mobilise public engagement with the upcoming 2027 census exercise.

The event will commence at 6 am from the HMDA Ground, situated near the Ambedkar Statue adjacent to Prasads on Necklace Road. According to officials, the walkathon forms part of a broader initiative designed to reach out to diverse sections of the community and build understanding about the significance of the census.

Organisers are anticipating substantial turnout for the campaign and have arranged for volunteers to guide and support attendees throughout the programme.

High-ranking dignitaries from both the Census department and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) are slated to grace the occasion. The Chief Principal Census Officer for Telangana and the GHMC Commissioner will lead the event alongside other senior functionaries.

Authorities have made an appeal to residents to demonstrate their commitment to the initiative by participating in the walkathon. The outreach programme represents a coordinated effort to lay groundwork for the forthcoming census exercise.
