BRS Stages Collectorate March Against Proposed Siddapur Dumping Yard

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has called on the government to abandon its proposal to establish a dumping yard at Siddapur in Kothur mandal within Shadnagar constituency, citing potential harm to adjacent settlements in Rangareddy district.
Party members and workers organised a march from Siddapur village to the district Collectorate on Monday, staging what they termed a "Chalo Collectorate" demonstration to voice their opposition to the project.
Former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy attended the protest, standing in solidarity with residents. She contended that the Congress administration was pursuing the dumping yard scheme to advance real estate development through its Future City initiative.
Reddy pointed out that the BRS government had previously acquired approximately 350 acres in the locality, designating the land for an information technology park and a food processing unit. She charged that the current administration intends to repurpose this same area for waste disposal operations.
The facility poses significant risks to neighbouring communities, Reddy warned, highlighting concerns about agricultural livelihoods, animal husbandry, and environmental degradation in the region. She cautioned that the BRS would escalate its campaign should the government proceed with the proposal.
Anjaiah Yadav, a former legislator and BRS coordinator for Shadnagar, led the march alongside party cadres and supporters. Participants renewed their insistence that authorities cancel the dumping yard plan immediately.
